William Darrell "Billy" Mays, Jr. (July 20, 1958 – June 28, 2009) was an American television direct-response advertisement salesperson most notable for promoting OxiClean, Orange Glo, and other cleaning, home-based, and maintenance products. His distinctive beard and loud sales pitches made him a recognized television presence in the United States.

On the morning of June 28, 2009, Mays's wife found him dead in his home. Because of the close temporal proximity of May's and Farrah Fawcett's deaths to Michael Jackson's untimely demise, MAX converted the Michael Jackson contest to a general dead celebrity contest.

In response, YTMND users made many sites that pay tribute to Mays. Interestingly, Billy Mays has won the hearts of many YTMND users and this is reflected in the number of positive, respectful sites and site comments about him. For example, many users lovingly refer to the late Billy Mays as follows: "Rest in peace sweet bearded prince."

Before his death, Billy Mays was already the subject of various and high rated sites, including He's no Jedi, Billy Mays is Huge in Utah, Billy Mays is a masochist, and the very popular TOURNAMENTMND2: Billy Mays ends Vince.

On July 20, 2009, which would have been Billy Mays' 51th birthday, YTMND user Icesnow, best known as the creator of the James David Manning fad, had created a site called, "Happy Birthday, Billy Mays!", which features Billy Mays celebrating his birthday in heaven, along with other celebrities who died in June 2009, such as Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. It could also be noted that Icesnow has done something similar like this with Michael Richards' 59th birthday.
