Zap Rowsdower is a charater from the movie The Final Sacrifice which was made fun of on the hit show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). The episode of the show (Season 9, Episode 10. Original air date: 2001-07-26, Original Movie: "The Final Sacrifice") is fan favorite which caused many Rowsdower sites. Rowsdower didn't become a fad until user samisweirdout created MST3K: Zap Rowsdower!
Alternate universes
The PTKFGS version of the fad features, another famous charater from The Final Sacrifice, "Pipper, who MST3K makes fun of for sounding like Yosemite Sam.
